Ice storm

We fell asleep to pounding rain. We woke up Sunday morning to quiet and ice. We hopped in the car early enough to actually be on time for our 9:30 church meeting. But we couldn't get up the driveway; and believe me, we tried. Matt even moved his ice-clad car (with the door open so he could see) so we could have a clear shot at gunning it up the drive. The slide back down was a little scary.

I suggested borrowing some salt from the neighbors (we are not prepared for ice storms) to melt the ice. Matt opted for stealing sand from Miles' sandbox. Then, both of us, sliding around in our Sunday shoes, sprinkled sand all the way up the driveway while our kids waited in the running car. The sand did the trick and we made it to church--albeit a little late. (That's the first time I've used "albeit.")

We had to go to church because Mia was wearing this dress:

A lady needs a public venue when she looks this stunning. Thanks, Aunt Stephy, for all the great hand-me-downs!

So worth it. That dress is amazing. She looks like a little girl, so grown up.

She is adorable, Anna. And already looking like a little girl with places to go.

Glad you made it to church safely. Ice storms are crazy.
