Halloween
Okay, I know Halloween was over a month ago... We spent that weekend in St. Louis with some of our dearest friends, Amy and Chad. Amy and I met in college, working for the same professor. We went on missions at the same time and were married within a couple of weeks of each other. We've stayed in touch over the years and spending a weekend with them and and their little guy, Jack, was like being in college again. We cooked together, lounged around, and took long walks in the unseasonably warm weather. After the boys were in bed, we'd stay up watching movies, playing guitar hero, and talking. It was a much-needed break from real life and the loneliness of moving to a new place. We missed them as soon as we hit the freeway.
Jack lent Miles his costume from last year. A very cute little spider. He didn't really get into the candy but he loved socializing. It was about 75 degrees that night. Families were out on their porches and in driveways with treats, bonfires, and cold beer.
Our generous hosts.
After a long walk we let the boys cool off a little in the local lily pond.
Jacks pants were already wet so we let him take a little dip.
Then all the boys wanted in.
The water was a little chilly so Miles sat on the sun-warmed bench to dry off.
It was then that we discovered this sign. To her credit, Amy wasn't there until the end...
The farewell Thai feast, prepared by Amy and Chad.
